Spring Life Skills 2018

Do you like working with elementary aged kids? Do you have a skill you could teach them in an hour? Then you are perfect to come and help us out this year at Spring Life Skills! Our program will run March 27-29 and April 3-5 focusing on the Easter story…from Palm Sunday to the Resurrection!

Classes can be almost anything:  we already have commitments to offer sewing, computers, art, guitar, ukulele and cooking  but need someone to lead a sports class.  We can always use more options as we hope to have 85-100 kids. Ideally, we like to keep class sizes between 12-20 kids.  We are also doing a reading program as part of Life Skills so if you would love to help kids learn to read we need you!

The kids pick two classes everyday and the classes vary daily depending on what adult volunteers are available to teach/help each day.

To volunteer email Laura or call the office (619) 440-1221.

Camp is Coming!!

Do you have a favorite summer camp experience from your childhood?  We are grateful to be able to offer 75 of our Sonshine Club kids an opportunity to spend 5 days at Indian Hills Camp this July!  These 3-6th graders are ready to be invited; however, the $225 camper fee is prohibitive for their families…that’s where we, the faith community comes in to the camping picture!!! Can you help us by sponsoring one or more children to experience Indian Hills Camp this summer?

As you know, this is a life changing time for the kids. Indian Hills Camp is just far enough away from the big city that kids feel like they are in another world.  Their camp experience will include the usual swimming, hiking, fun games, snack shack…but even better they will be invited to participate in worship, Bible messages geared to their age level, cabin/wagon/tepee devotional times, family style meals and learning to hear and talk to God.  A week of memories they will have with them the rest of their lives!

To sponsor one or more Sonshine Club children at $225 per camper donate here.

If you have any questions, please call us at Sonshine Haven (619-440-1221) or email Karla (
