Sonshine and Higher Ground Clubs:
If you love to share Jesus, love kids and are a team player – this is a Missionary chance of a lifetime!
Sonshine Haven needs your help in weekly, after school Bible clubs in public elementary and middle schools! Several schools are waiting for Sonshine teams to open a club and others just need a few more helpers!
DONATION OPTION: Club snacks (crackers, cookies, pretzels – no peanuts) and prizes (small items – balls, pencils, balloons, etc..) needed weekly!
If you have some spare time in the summer and want to invest in the lives of Sonshine Club kids, come on over to Sonshine Haven (located in El Cajon) and help at the Life Skills classes. These classes are an integral part of the Sonshine Haven’s mission in providing love, support and hope for children in our community. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Instructors and helpers are needed for classes in cooking, sewing, computers, art, music, fitness and more!
Life skills are offered 6 days during spring break and 15 days in the summer.
Ladies Lunch Out:
Generally the 4th Tuesday of each month Sonshine Haven provides a special, free morning for local women and our club mom’s! The event includes light refreshments & dessert, worship, an encouraging speaker, prayer time and door prizes.
All free for the ladies!
DONATION OPTION: We are looking for groups to sponsor the food each month, as well as donations of Christian CD’s, candles, journals, jewelry, etc.. for door prizes.
Thanksgiving Food Drive:
Each year, during the week of Thanksgiving we collect items and distribute Thanksgiving dinner fixing’s (including a turkey) along with additional groceries to over 100 Sonshine families in need. DONATION OPTION: Groceries, grocery store gift cards and turkeys needed!
We have many children that would not experience the joy of Christmas if it wasn’t for our faithful donors that “adopt” a family in need. Program is very flexible; if you’re interested please contact us.
Approx. 40 Needy Sonshine club graduates ( 5th graders) spend the Thursday before middle school starts being treated like princes and princesses! Each child is sponsored ($250.00) and goes shopping for school clothes, gets a haircut @ HS Salon (owned by Michael Rothman who closes the store for a half day, absorbs the loss of income for that time and pays his stylists who participate), manicure, appropriate make-up, lunch, before and after pictures and a backpack full of school supplies to start their new year!
